Clinker Road

Problem

The access and road leading up to the product store depot for our client had become heavily contaminated by waste product which had been lost during delivery and was spreading across the four loading bays causing uneven ground.

Overview

Our task was to remove the loose materials, dig out a section 6m x 10m x 300mm, install 393 mesh and concrete with C40, creating 4 new loading bays.

Objectives

To create an even surface which can be kept clean, prevent trips, provide easily identifiable bays, provide clear road markings.

Key Challenges

Whilst digging out we came across and redundant railway line which ran through the site. This had to be removed and cut into sections for removal.

This work had to be complete within a certain timeframe due to stock delivery requirements. The work was completed in 6 days from start to finish.

Successes

Where possible, redundant material was reused to rebuild the ramp leading to the loading bays. This reduced waste from site to a minimum.

Our client now has a fully functional loading area, which can be easily cleaned and is safer for delivery drivers to use.
